About Skelder Farm Holiday Cottages

These charming farm cottages are a group of cottages that have been tastefully converted from farm buildings dating back to the 1800’s. Arranged around a courtyard these comfortable cottages provide warm and cosy accommodation for families and couples alike.

Situated on the edge of the small village of Commondale in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park they are approached via a well maintained farm track and retain many original architectural features, including character beams and natural stonework.

The surrounding area with its quiet roads and moor land tracks is suitable for walkers and cyclists with beautiful views unfolding in the nearby Esk Valley where the Pickering preservation Steam Railway winds its way towards Whitby. The lovely wide open sandy beaches of the Heritage Coastline are only a 20 minute drive away and there are also historical abbeys and National Trust properties all within easy reach.

Several pubs in the surrounding villages serve good food and there are also local tearooms available. Alternatively simply relax and enjoy the location of these lovely restored cottages. All cottages have their own fires to make your stay warm and cosy, particularly on a cold winter's night.

Moorview Cottage
(Sleeps 5)

Ground floor:

sitting/dining room with beamed ceiling, exposed stone work and wood burning stove. Well-equipped kitchen. 1 single bedroom.

Upstairs:

2 bedrooms - 1 double bedroom en suite with power shower wash hand basin and WC. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with power shower, wash hand basin and WC.

Facilities:

electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster. Dishwasher. Automatic washing machine, iron/ironing board. Colour TV/video with a selection of videos. Radio/CD player. Bed linen and towels provided. Oil fired central heating and electricity included in the rent and a starter pack of fuel for the stove. Garden bench. Barbecue equipment on request. Private parking. 1 small well behaved pet welcome; 1 extra at £10 per pet per week.

Quarry Cottage
(Sleeps 4)

Ground floor:

Living/dining room, with multifuel wood burning stove, beamed ceilings and exposed stonework, well equipped kitchen and utility room.

Upstairs:

1 double bedroom and 1 bunkroom and bathroom with overhead power shower.

Facilities:

Electric hob and oven, fridge, washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron and board, colour tv, dvd player, linen and towels supplied, garden furniture and barbecue available. Fuel and electricity included, Parking for 1 car and 1 well behaved small pet welcome.

Stable Cottage
(Sleeps 2)

Ground floor:

Kitchen, living/dining room with exposed stone and beamed ceilings.

Upstairs:

Double bedroom and bathroom with over head shower.

Facilities:

Electric oven and hob ,microwave, fridge, washing machine, iron and board, kettle, toaster etc, colour tv, dvd player.
